Home Care & Companionship for the elderly

Pyae loves working with old people. His grandpa in his Burmese village lived to 102 and his grandma 99. He lived with them for some years when his parents went away to seek work in Rangoon during the Magway drought. His grandma taught him a lot about life. He can help with all your needs at home. He is always happy to talk – this also helps him improve his English. He taught himself partly by talking with tourists at Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon when he was a teenager.

Abasiakara also has experience working with the elderly in his family business whilst he was a student.

Housekeeping

We love to clean and will do a very thorough professional job wherever we work. We include deep cleaning, high dusting, tidying, ironing, bed making, shopping, cooking – whatever you desire to make your home more comfortable.

Pyae won a national bed making competition in Burma when working at The Savoy Hotel in Yangon.

Gardening & Maintenance

Ed and David provide gardening and outdoor maintenance services for My Valet. Here, Ed is pruning a horizontal vine and hedge trimming for a client in Bath.

Cooking

Burmese dishes are Pyae’s speciality if you want to try something. He will bring the ingredients and you can cook together if you like. His recipes include tea leaf salad, mohinga, chicken curry, vegetarian curry, hainnhkyao (soup), ngapi taung (fish/shrip paste used in many Burmese dishes). If you want an authentic Burmese flavour for yourself or your guests, Pyae can oblige.

Flower Arranging

Pyae was assistant florist for The Savoy Hotel in Yangon before moving to the UK. He arranged the flowers for his own wedding and these pictures show his work in My Valet customer’s houses. Pyae is also a volunteer flower arranger at Bath Abbey.

Laundry ironing and darning

Pyae grew up in a very poor village in Burma and his family of 12 did not waste anything – food or clothes. He loves sewing and mending garments. For one customer he recently added material hooks to their branded Aga towels.

Pyae also won a national bed-making competition when working at The Savoy Hotel in Yangon.

David does technical support for My Valet he has significant experience having run a computer services and telecoms company before which won national awards for innovation as a pioneer of rural ultra-fast broadband provision. He was the first person in the UK to deploy subloop unbundling and a full fibre optic service to a UK rural village (Hambleton in Rutland).
